Who we are
FutureNest Financial is a life insurance practice serving families and business owners across Ontario. This policy explains how we handle personal information, and follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Questions about privacy, and any request about your information, can be sent to info@futurenestfinancial.ca.
What we collect
When you contact us. Your name, email address, phone number and whatever you choose to tell us about your situation.
When you book a meeting. We use Calendly for scheduling. Calendly collects the name, email address and any details you enter when you book, and shares them with us so we can prepare for the meeting.
When you become a client. The information needed to give advice and to apply for coverage: financial and family circumstances, and the information insurers require, which can include health information. We collect this directly from you, with your consent.
We do not buy personal information, and we do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this website. The only thing this site stores in your browser is which version of the content you chose to view.
The planning readiness check
The planning readiness check runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not stored, not sent to us and not recorded anywhere.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry and arrange a meeting; to give advice and prepare recommendations; to apply for coverage with insurers on your instructions; to service policies and stay in touch about your plan; and to meet the obligations that insurers, regulators and the law place on us.
We use your information only for the purpose it was given, or for a purpose you would reasonably expect. We do not sell it, and we do not share it for marketing.
Your consent
You give us information voluntarily, and that is your consent to use it for the purposes above. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, subject to legal and contractual limits, such as records we must keep in connection with a policy that is in force.
Who else handles it
Service providers. This website and its security protection are provided by Cloudflare. Scheduling is provided by Calendly. Email correspondence is handled by our email provider. These providers process information on our behalf, and may store or process it outside Canada, where foreign courts and authorities may be able to require access to it.
Insurers. When you apply for coverage, we send the application and the information it requires to the insurer you are applying to. Their own privacy policies then apply as well.
Your other advisors. We share information with your accountant or lawyer only when you ask us to, or when you have told us to coordinate with them.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to a regulator.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and correspondence for as long as needed for the purpose they were given, and then delete them. Where a client relationship begins, we keep records for as long as required by applicable law and by the insurers involved, which is longer than the relationship itself.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Email info@futurenestfinancial.ca and we will respond within 30 days.
We will delete what we are able to delete. Where we must keep something, for example a record tied to a policy that is in force or a record the law requires us to retain, we will tell you what we are keeping and why.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorised access, and we limit access to those who need it to do the work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send account numbers, policy numbers or health details by email.
Changes, and how to complain
If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, contact us first so we can put it right. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
